Triola is a Tokyo-based string project organised by Atsuko Hatano. Since 2010, Triola has been performing and producing albums in a duo formation of violin and viola under the concept of 'ever-evolving string pop music', and has welcomed violinist Anzu Suhara as a member since 2016. In 2018, the band released a neo-classical work, 'Chiral', composed of strings and drums, fusing pop melodies with hardcore rhythms.
In the autumn of 2023, they released 'Scapegoat' on the UK label Costructive, a conceptual work based on the theme of an 'imaginary opera', with poetry and drama present in every song, despite being an instrumental album.
The band's theme is minimal punk (excerpts and reconstructions), and the band's dynamic Triola sound is expressed through a combination of stoic rhythms and rich string harmonies.
